Sharing Anne Leibovitz's Alice in Wonderland shoot for US Vogue in Dec '03. Despite the fact that this shoot is quite old and has been talked and written about in many a blogs, I really do like it and thought I should put it up here to commemorate my new found love for Lewis Carroll and his wise (and otherwise) quotes. Russian model Natalia looks lovely as Alice and is paired with the creme de la creme of the Fashion industry. See for yourself...
Alice: Natalia Vodianova, Art Director: Olivier Theyskens
The White Rabbit: Tom Ford
The Caterpillar: Marc Jacobs
A Visting Royale: Karl Lagerfield
The Cheshire Cat: Jean Paul Gaultier
Twidledee and Twidledum: Viktor & Rolf
The Mad Hatter: Stephen Jones, The March Hare: Christian Lacroix
The Queen Of Hearts: John Galliano, The King: Alexis Roche
The Mock Turtle: Donatella Versace, The Gryphon: Rupert Everett
Alice's Cat Dina: Nicolas Ghesquiere (Balenciaga)
Love the pretty baby-doll like dresses and how Leibovitz has infused a sense of Surrealism into her shoot to portray the whimsical world in which Alice lived. ( all images via flickr )
Also looking forward to Tim Burton's movie Alice in Wonderland starring Johnny Depp and Anne Hathaway which is releasing this March. Judging from the trailor, the film promises to have an element of darkness to it and oodles of old world charm too!
