Size Doesn’t Matter

Today I’m  head over heels in love with this pretty passage and the bedroom that it leads to. Aren’t you too?

  (both images via apartment therapy)

Can I sleep here tonight please?

Totally awestruck by the bold mix of colours and patterns in this bedroom! Would you believe it if I told you that this gorgeous room is located in a 593 square feet tiny apartment in Missouri? Only goes to show how small spaces can be converted into functional yet gorgeous living spaces with a little effort and ingenuity

Here are some tips to help you renovate a room when you face space constraint.

  • Invest in some statement making furniture and room accessories. They needn’t be expensive as long as they’re stylish. Some pieces to consider are a headboard for your bed, curtains or wall accessories.

  • When decorating small spaces, mirrors are your best friends! Use them to create an illusion of space and to add a touch of glamour to the room.

  • While white is definitely the safest choice of color to use in a small room, do not be afraid of combining it with bolder colors or prints to turn your room into a visual delight.

  • DO try your hand at some DIY activities to decorate and add a personal touch to the room.

  • When it comes to storage, think out of the box. Consider alternate uses of elements like a bed side table or a window sill as a work station or a dresser.

  • Go beyond traditional lamps and light fixtures. Play with lighting to create an appropriate mood for your room.

…and remember, big ideas come in small packages!

Do you have any particular ideas or tips for decorating small living spaces?

I love the light fixture and the colors/patterns so pretty!
I've lived in small spaces in NY my whole life - the key is to find multi-functional furniture - such as a bed with storage under it, which is what I have in my bedroom.
Great blog!
Have a great day!

Gorgeous pics, Persis! I agree with the use of mirrors, for sure! And I also like to use throws, pillows and artwork to brighten up a space, and I also love a mixture of classic style with really offbeat stuff, like Urban Outfitters pillowcases (which are always funky and cool), makes the room look less "done." Have a fab day!

These are fabulous tips! I could definitely use a bunch of them being that I live in a 700 sq. foot apt. This room is just dreamy!

What a pretty room! So fancy yet soothing. My small living tip is to put the bed on risers to make room for under bed storage. A high bed gives the room a dramatic look and you can fit 4 flat boxes and 2 medium boxes until one full bed. That almost one season's worth of clothes! (Can you tell I have a little practice?)

Hope your Monday is fabulous!

So, so pretty!

Another storage idea is to use a toy chest which can double up as a seat with a throw and cushions!

Ooh, I love that! I could definitely live there! We moved my mother-in-law into a one room apt and I was amazed at how cozy it became. She did move down some bed sizes. Pictures seem to help, too, which is a little surprising to me. You always have inspiring ideas, my dear!

gorgeous! I love blues and golds together. Christie Brinkley's bedroom at her Hampton's cottage is absolutely gorgeous, has a similar feel to this I think!
