Ain’t Got No…

These pictures looked like they had a story to tell, so I got in touch with Nina, the lady responsible for styling this shoot to find out more…

Model: Petra
Photos: Tijana Mihailovich
Styling: Nina Blace
Photo editing: Vice Rossini
Song: Ain't got no..I got by Nina Simone

This is how the story unfolds… (as told by Nina)

When my friend Tijana (photographer) suggested me that ruined house for the set of shooting I immediately fell in love with the house and romantic charm of it.

Idea was to create a story about girl that has lost home and has to find herself a shelter. The girl is used to having many lovely things so when she sees the house she ends up depressed and with no power to do anything because everything is ruined. As she makes her bed, she realizes that if she lost everything in her life, meaning home or even friends or family she still has herself. Because you carry yourself wherever you go. Styling of the girl in the house has glamorous but vintage vibe because she is used to a better life. In styling I used pale pink items to exude a feel of fragility mixed with few tough looking garments that give a feeling of feisty. Because now all she has to do is to survive.

This shoot challenged me to think about how it would be if I don’t have anything. It is paradox about how we are so attached to all our material possessions, and how we usually want more without being thankful for what we already have. We all know that losing a house as result of recession and slow crush of this world order led by money, is really something that is happening nowadays more often. And usually people will lose home but will be left with so many things because the system when was functioning for them was making them buy buy and buy. And in many countries today, if something happens, for example you get sick or you are no longer in use to serve the system, you will end up on the street. That’s really a truth that surrounds us.

How incredible. Love it heaps! And you?

Gorgeous story and pictures. I have left everything I own except two suitcases and started life over again quite a few times. It is actually very liberating.

Loved this story about these photos.....you mentioned gratitude....which is so very lacking in today's society...just leave you with this quote "Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues....but the parent of all others."
