Hello Stella McCartney

Absolutely smitten with Lille Boutique’s new lookbook featuring Stella McCartney’s Fall 2011 lingerie collection.

This beautifully styled shoot does complete justice to McCartney’s dreamy come-hither intimates. Don’t you just love the colourful poppy print and the romantic silk chemise?

Save The Date – Karl Lagerfeld

Karl Lagerfeld’s much anticipated collection for Macy’s will finally be available in stores from 31st August.

The collection comprises mostly of sharp and crisp outfits ranging between $50-$170 and if the frenzy over his previous collection for H&M is anything to go by then expect this one to fly off the racks within weeks if not days.

Edinburgh’s Hogmanay

If you are planning to celebrate New Year’s eve on foreign shores this year then I insist that you consider the Edinburgh Hogmanay Festival. It is by far one of the most wild and wonderful way to bring in a new year!

Thousands of people descend upon the old streets of Edinburgh to part take in a massive street party which includes one of the most astounding fireworks display with the Edinburgh castle as a backdrop. Enjoy the torch-light processions, live concerts, magic shows, comic acts, folk dances… there’s something for everyone. Join hands with your friends and everyone else to sing Burn’s Auld Lang Syne and if like me you don’t know the words just mouth any ol’ song along.

At the stroke of midnight be prepared to be backslapped, hugged and kissed by complete strangers. Yes, the Scots are friendly folks and the revelry is all in good taste.

And when you feel peckish there are innumerable food stalls and pubs to choose from. Remember, the more you get drunk the more you shall bond with Scotland!

A word of caution, if you plan to spend the night in Edinburgh book a room well in advance as the hotels get filled up very early in the year… or else be prepared to sleep in the car, like I did.

Windsor Dressing

I have a big spot in my heart for England, Vintage and Romance.

No wonder I’m so drawn to these pictures of James D'Arcy and Andrea Riseborough from the upcoming movie W.E. in which Madonna makes her directorial debut.

Love the sophisticated couture grandeur of the costumes designed by Arianne Phillips and photographed by Tom Munro.

I can’t wait to watch this film!

Decorating With Vignettes

I have recently developed a thing for tablescapes and mantle displays. They tell you so many little tales about a home and its owner. Like where they have travelled, their favourite books, flowers, their lifestyle, hobbies, collections etc.

Here are some beautifully created table-top and mantle vignettes to feast your eyes upon.

{all images are from my inspiration folder}

Designing vignettes is an art really. To create a successful display it is essential to tie the vignette together with a definite colour pallete, theme and items. If you notice carefully, you shall find that varying heights and creating a juxtaposition with high and low objects is pleasing to the eye. Photo frames, candles, coffee table books, souvenirs and floral arrangements make for good props, but as all artistic curations go, the possibilities are endless

…B’coz a home means having a place to tell your own little story in your own little way.

It’s Maritime

Today I’m reminiscing my last summer’s obsession with nautical fashion, as I sit admiring these super stylish and sassy pictures photographed by Luis Monteiro for Tatler’s It’s Maritime editorial.

This is one fashion trend that I’d love to see make a comeback next year. What about you… which previous trend would you like to return to?
