Shop Hop With At First Swoon

Hello darlings, Ann here from At First Swoon guest blogging for the gracious Persis

I spent a wonderful Labour Day weekend in NYC and found a darling 70's inspired shop you would love and I can't wait to tell you about it! But before I get into that, I just have to say, I'm totally envious of New York's huge variety of good eats and good boutiques!

I'm from California and in comparison to NY, we're totally boring. I can usually recognize most of what the people wear in CA...H&M, Forever 21, and Hollister are the usual suspects, but in NY, there was so much idiosyncrasies (translation: vintage)!

What's a CA girl to do with only 3 days in NYC? Eat and shop of course! Though big chains and brand names were in abundance, I was attracted to something a bit more quirky and off the beaten path (which you'd be hard pressed to find in CA, but if you do know of one, please do tell)...a store that got its name from Nathaniel West's novel, Miss Lonelyhearts.

Tucked away in the Lower East Side, this little shop had the most awesome collection of…

soft as feather leather handbags,

 sexy 70's inspired clothes,

bold gold jewellery,

 sweet smelling soaps,

and even a Boy Toy Bench for the huz!

I adored every piece in there and the handbags were to die for...I wanted to take them all home! After an excruciating session of eenie minie mo, I finally settled on a black leather shoulder bag and a tiny heart necklace...both my new favourite pieces!

For those of you lucky enough to live in NYC, the store is located at 250 Broome St. Luckily for the rest of us, they have a website and an online store, but I really think the images don't really do the products justice. For instance, every since I got my bag, my friends can't stop touching it because it's so soft!

I can't wait to see their Spring/Summer 2011 collection, which they mentioned on their blog, is inspired by 70's porn!

Gotcha love NYC!

Circus Princess

These pictures from Ditte Isager’s Circus Princess shoot have got me reminiscing about my childhood.

My dad would take me to the circus every year. But I have to say, he seemed to enjoy it far more than I did. I could never fully get into it. I guess all those big animals and clowns can be slightly overwhelming for children. And yet somehow those trips to the circus have made their way into my fondest memories from childhood…

Did you like going to the circus when you were young? Do you have any vivid memories from back then? I’d love to know.

Come September

Greetings Miles of Style readers! This is Eleni from My Paradissi. I can't tell you just how thrilled I was when Persis asked me to do a guest post for her lovely blog as she'll be away for a few days!

As summer comes slowly to an end and the autumn breeze cools down the temperature I feel really inspired by serene, crisp bedrooms, perhaps on our last days of vacation in the summer house. Just imagine laying on the bed with the curtains slightly blowing in the wind, daydreaming about your new September resolutions. Happy Autumn Everyone!
