Hello Moschino

The 50s and 60s are having a fashion moment like never before. I mean the nipped waists, flared skirts, slim belts, winged eyeliner, red lips, chignons… the chic first lady look.

As exhibited in Moschinos pre – A/W 2011 collection. Here are some of my favourite numbers:

I’m completely loving the use of that giant gilded frame as a prop in the shoot, with the models stepping out of it as though from a photograph. Simple yet brilliant, keeping step with Moschino’s designs! What do you think?

Books & Their Homes

Trying to display any collection is a frustrating task but well worth the effort.

{images via and my tumblr}

Yes, I am a literal dork and these rooms with books are “literally” my kind of paradise.

I’ve been passionately collecting books for years now with the hope of having a dark, cozy art-deco styled library in my home someday…

… How about you, do you collect anything?

Hello, Eros & Agape

My love for French fashion labels, as with all things French never seems to fade. Adding fuel to fire, are these lovely photographs in my mailbox from Eros & Agape’s SS 2011 collection.

Inspired by summer shores and exuding that perfect mix of French elegance and effortless styling, be it the romantic silk scarf, the flouncy white floral dress or the ultra chic bouffants

Dreaming of clear skies, a day at the beach, sand between my toes, saltwater kisses and of course, yet another escapade to France!

J’adore Erose & Agape.

Find them exhibiting their collection at the Prêt-à-Porter show in Paris b/w 22-25 Jan ‘11.

A Picture = A Thousand Words

“ A photograph always has a history. It denotes a time and a place & is able to halt life, if only for a second.” ~ Rodney Smith

When speaking of loss, language is threatened by clichés. But photographs tell us more about all that is, and all that could not be. This photo is a record of one such loss.

This shot of the NYC skyline was captured by ace photographer Rodney Smith before 9-11. On his blog he mentions how this picture was quite popular before 9-11 and since then went on to become an icon, being purchased by people all over the world but strangely by no one in NYC.

Almost looks like those people with umbrellas are waiting for the planes to crash into the towers and the rain,a sign of doom.

Notice the symmetry in Smith’s shot… the man’s hat falling right in between the twin towers. On this side of 9-11, I find this sort of perfect symmetry rather disturbing. Much like the calm before the storm.

Such a potent picture, no?

A Winter Love Story

Winter and I are going steady…

Spending time, alone; together

between steaming hot cups of freshly grounded coffee

leisurely long luncheons

curling up on warm fuzzy pillows

in inviting little alcoves

and cozy candle-lit dinners

on long endless nights

slowing down the days

…We’ve been enjoying each others company. Filled with

excitement of new adventures.

Slowly but surely.

Mellow Yellow

Photographer Andi Mans shared with me her latest shoot and got me daydreaming of laying in the grass, picking flowers and enjoying the simple pleasures in life.

To Be Adored

My heart is all a-flutter after laying eyes upon To Be Adored’s Spring-Summer 2011 collection.

The sixties shapes, the nudes, the pistachios and those peter pan collars are right up my street!

I also love the gloomy retro vibe in these pictures. The Lookbook is set in the English countryside with melting snow and an overcast  sky.

Designer Binbin McNiven is amazingly consistent in getting the fun yet sophisticated look right.

The collection will be available for purchase February 2011 onwards.

p.s. {also fun yet sophisticated are these}
